The Daily Rant!

The purpose and point of the Daily Rant is purely entertainment.  The GM will post the Rant periodically but others guild members are encouraged to submit Rants as well.  They will be reviewed, assessed, and edited (if necessary) before being posted.

Since the purpose is entertainment, NO Rants containing offensive language, racial, religious, or sexual slurs or pertaining to other guild members will be posted.  This is not a venue for airing complaints.  Issues between members should be dealt with privately or with an officer or the GM.

The Day Bambi Died

By Gelian

This is not really a rant… just a funny that happened while Storm and I were running our alts, Shalaan and Tunnelwalker.

We were running some quests in Blade’s Edge (the one where you have to collect clothing scraps for a disguise, outside of Evergrove) and killing the dragoncult hunters or whatever they’re called.  Things were going nicely, partly because I’d discovered I could one- or two-hit the little dragons the hunters had as pets, and we were collecting the scraps we needed when we set our sights on another hunter and pet.  I planned to target the pet while Storm was targeting the hunter.  He asked if I was ready, I said “go”, he charged the hunter and I let loose with a lightning bolt on the pet… except I hadn’t targeted the pet at all but a poor helpless deer wandering around behind the pet.  BANG… deer drops dead.  Storm says, “What the hell… ?” and I scream, “Oh no… I’ve killed Bambi!”  We both start laughing so hard we almost forget to finish off the hunter and pet.  For the rest of that day, anytime one of us made a targeting mistake (or *any* mistake, for that matter), we’d yell, “I killed Bambi!” and then crack up laughing again.

So now, anytime you hear one of us say, “Oh no… I killed Bambi!”, you’ll know what we’re talking about.

Annoying Pallys

By Gelian

I was doing an Alterac Valley battleground today when I had what I would call a very frustrating experience with some “Annoying Pallys.”

I was running my rogue and had stopped at Ice Blood Tower, as I usually do, to help take the flag and defend it until it capped.  I’m getting the flag when a dwarf paladin joins me inside the tower.  My health is at about half since I got dinged on the way up the tower so I was rather hoping the pally would heal me up so we could start taking out the npc’s around the outside of the tower… no such luck.   I bandage myself and start beating on the npc’s.  (Keep in mind rogues wear only leather armor, whereas pallys are in plate.)  The pally remains inside the tower while I beat down two of them and I start thinking, “A little help here would be good!”  He finally comes out as I’m working on the third npc but does he start beating on them?  No.  He heals… not me but himself.  I’m beginning to grind my teeth a bit by this time.

I finally get some help from a second pally who joins in just as I’m starting on the last of the npc’s on the tower.  We finish that and get back to the flag to stand guard just as two or three horde players come up to try to take the flag back.  The two pallys are pretty much just running in circles while I’m trying to beat down the horde players.  I’m sure they must have gotten in a few hits but I didn’t see much of that because I wind up dead on the floor of the tower.

Instead of releasing, I stay and see that the two pallys did manage to beat off the horde players.  I figure, “Great, one of them will resurrect me and I won’t have to work my way back from Dun Baldar.”  I wait a minute… nothing.  I type in, “Could I get a rez in IBT, plz?” hoping one of the two would notice me there, under their feet, and rez me.  I wait some more… still nothing.  I say again, “Hello… Katti here in IBT.  Could I get a rez??”  Still nothing.  FINALLY, after almost three minutes of waiting, one of the pallys sees me and starts to rez me… just as the tower goes up in flames.  I come back with almost Zero health and am faced with the choice of immediately dying from the fire damage or dying from jumping out of the tower.  I jump and die before I hit the ground.

Any wonder I call them those “Annoying Pallys”?
